Effects of Prenatal and Neonatal Exposure to Bisphenol A on the Development of the Central Nervous System

چکیده
Bisphenol A (BPA) is one of the most common endocrine disrupters. In the last decade, the number of studies concerning the effects of chronic treatment with BPA on the development of the central nervous system (CNS) has increased. However, little is known about the effects of chronic exposure to BPA on higher brain functions such as memory or psychomotor functions. Here, we report our following findings: (1) Prenatal and neonatal exposure to BPA enhances psychostimulant-induced rewarding effects, results in the upor downregulation of dopamine receptors, causes memory impairment, and decreases choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) activity. (2) BPA activates astrocytes in vivo and in vitro. These findings suggest that prenatal and neonatal exposure to BPA affects the development of the CNS.

Background: Cannabinoid, particularly hashish and WIN 55212-2 (WIN), consumption during embryonic period may affect fetal growth, and the development of motor functioning, memory and cognitive functions. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate the effects of WIN 55212-2 during embryonic period on behavioral responses, as well as tissue and memory changes among neonatal rats. Methods: WIN...

Introduction: Environmental pollution with heavy metals such as mercury is a major health problem. Growing studies on the field have shown the deleterious effects of mercury on human and nonhuman nervous system, especially in infants, however the effects of prenatal exposure to mercuricchloride on cortical development are not yet well understood. The aim of this study was to investigate the eff...

In this investigation the effects of excess vitamin A administration during the early embryonic period were studied. Intramuscular injection of a single dose of 15000,20000 or 25000 IU/kg vitamin A to pregnant Balb/c strain mice on either day 7,8,9 or 10 of gestation (vaginal plug= day 0 of gestation) produced major malformations in the central nervous system (CNS) including exencephaly, h...

Background and purpose: Bisphenol A is a synthetic xenoestrogen that is used in large amount to produce polymers (polycarbonates, epoxy resins). It easily cross the blood-brain barrier and is reported to influence the central nervous system especially neurogenesis and synaptic transmission. In this research the effects of chronic administration of bisphenol A on spatial learning and memory in a...
متن کاملP-105: Prenatal Effects Exposure to Extremely Low Frequency- Electromagnetic Field (ELF-EMF) on Pathology of Testis in Newborn Rats
Background: Human beings are unavoidably exposed to ambient electromagnetic fields (EMF) generated from various electrical devices and from power transmission lines. The effects of extremely low-frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMF) on the biological functions of living organisms represent an emerging area of interest for human health. One of the critical issues is that EMF may adversely a...
